Imam Advises Canada to Continue Walking on Eggshells,

...lest they incur the wrath of uncontrollable Muslim youth.

From Aaron Goldstein :“In an article that appeared in The Globe & Mail on July 25, 2005 (Imam warns Ottawa to back off Muslims) which can be found at www.theglobeandmail.com Anne McLellan, Canada’s Public Safety Minister (and also Deputy Prime Minister) held a meeting with Canadian Muslim leaders in May and in an exchange with Hindy, he warned McLellan, “If you try to cross the line I can’t guarantee what is going to happen. Our young people, we can’t control.”?

Canada’s stubborn liberal policy imagines it can placate Islamism through “tolerance” almost to the degree of submissiveness. You would have thought this kind of incendiary statement would draw at least a little counter-reaction, right?…

"Not all Muslim leaders in Canada may share Hindy’s view. But if that is the case why have we not heard, as of this writing, any denunciation of Hindy by the Canadian Islamic Congress or any other Muslim organization or individual Muslim leader? The fact that there has been no hurry on the part of anyone to distance or otherwise dissociate themselves with Hindy’s remarks is quite disconcerting. Their silence is complicit approval of Hindy’s statements. Equally disturbing is that to date no Canadian politician or public official has taken Hindy to task for these remarks. Not McLellan. Not Prime Minister Paul Martin. Nor Conservative Party leader Stephen Harper. The Liberals and NDP will not speak up for fear of losing votes amongst their growing Muslim constituency. The Conservatives will not speak for fear of being branded anti-Muslim. This unwillingness to speak out should be of concern to not only all Canadians but to all people who value freedom’s way. I do not know if CSIS is spying on Hindy. But I know if I were in charge of CSIS I would be watching Hindy very, very carefully."

I suppose an American spokesperson could check for any double standards in Canada’s free-speech accommodation by cautioning: “If you allow Canada to be a safe haven for terrorists we can’t guarantee what’s going to happen. Our agressive administration, we can’t control.”
